"KMG365"

My name is Marnie. I'm a 50ish year old female who is newly retired from being a firefighter/medic. I "retired" from my well paying, home a lot, incredibly rewarding job to move to a full-time job with this non-profit I started in 2010. In 2016 I got trained in Peer Support and I was hooked. I knew I could do more than what I was doing for my fellow Responders.

Screw all of that...what I'm struggling with is how to convince people that it's not your capacity you should be judged on...it's the passion. How do you convince people that "I'll just figure out a way" and in the same breath appreciate how scary that is for folks that don't think like that.

Starting and working full-time for a non-profit is not as easy as it seems. Yup, I work from home and my van. I can work out in my garage. I'm sitting outside during this amazingly pretty fall day here in Colorado and I'm f*^&ing still struggling? Good grief...I should call a therapist...

Believing in your passion is scary...but not following your passion is something I never want to teach my kids. I want them to see me "fail" because they will get to see me get up. I've taken them on a long road of trauma brain mom, to tired mom, to dissociated mom back to I'm the coolest mom, mom. They see all of me's and believe in me still...why can't I?

KMG365 is from the old TV show Emergency. They would acknowledge a call that came in by saying this over the radio. It means, I hear you and I'm on my way. Rumors say that the "KMG" means "keep me going".

Hey fellow responders...I hear you, and I'm on my way.
